About TWO Paint Studio Workshops

Two Paint Studio is happy to offer year round workshops. Accomodations are available upon request and spaces are limited.

For those of you who would like to break away from the studio and paint en plein air, meaning done on location out of doors, as opposed to in the studio, these workshops are designed to do just that.

To see more of Ken DeWaard's work please visit his web site at the link provided.

For Ken there is nothing more rewarding and challenging than painting under an open sky, surrounded by the scents and sounds of nature, along with it's ever changing color harmonies to excite one's creativity.

Workshops for 2012

Essence: the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something.
In essence - basically and without regard for peripheral details; fundamentally.
Design: an arrangement of lines or shapes created to form a pattern.
To do or plan (something) with a specific purpose or intention in mind.

We will inevitably be chasing the light and seeing beyond what is there, always looking for more. No matter what we are faced with, it all comes down to design.
The old real estate adage about location, location, location is the same as what is truly important about what we do in the studio as well as in plein air. Utilizing and building on what nature gives us but not being a slave to it.
It is all about the design and interpretation.

We will start at about 9 am and go until about 4 pm.
We will be facing the challenges of capturing the ever fleeting light as well as seeing beyond the obvious and looking for the designs in nature. As always we will be working alla prima and look to
complete these in one session. We will also be working to simplify our shapes, really push to explore our use of temperatures and color along with controlling our values as well as our edges.
Composition and design underly all of these along with our drawing which will be our foundation.
This class is open to all levels and all mediums.
All in all we will look to make our paintings vibrant, fresh, and full of light and color.
