A Little Piece of Italy - Monteprandone AP - August 2014

Buon Giorno Tutti,

This past August, I was fortunate enough to return to Italy after more than17 years.
I brought my two eldest children, Ross and MiAe to meet their Italian side of the family.

We spent most of our time in a little hillside town by the name of Monteprandone, just inland from San Benedetto del Tronto which is a resort town on the Adriatic Sea, northeast of Rome.

We traveled to Venice and Rome and saw all of the wonderful ancient structures. However, most of our time was spent visiting the small towns nearby in the Marche Region, such as Aquaviva, Ripatransone, Monsampolo, as well as Castellluccio.

During our stay in Monteprandone, which dates back to the late 1300s, I was fortunate enough to get out and paint a handful of times, all of which where inside the walls of our beautiful small town. It was a delight to be out painting again on location in Italy. These paintings are a result of an emotional response I felt while immersed in the beauty of my surroundings and time spent with family in our "home away from home". They are spontaneous and fresh and reflect the warmth and love that I feel towards the town, the people, and the life style they live. John Singer Sargent had a quote I often refer to: "Dolce Far Niente" which translates to "Sweet to do Nothing".

Each 9" x 12" oil on panel is framed in a dusted black and gold frame, with the date and location written on the back. The price is $1000 each, domestic shipping is included.

There will be studio paintings that will come from this trip but there are only six of these 9 x 12's that were actually produced on location in Italy.
